Human life is fraught with adversity -- both physical and emotional -- although each person's experience varies greatly. In order to survive adversity, to overcome loss and difficulty, and to succeed in life a person must have inner resources to draw from.
Walking down Lincoln Avenue in Portsmouth, I am struck by the beauty of the day Β forsythia, tulips and daffodils, bright sun, warm breeze Β and the freedom and privilege I have to walk in a healthy body, through a friendly neighborhood, of my own volition. I think about how much I take for granted, and how easy it is to feel centered and content when life is easy, flowing, and conflict free.
I have counseled individuals, couples, families and business partners for the past 35 years and authored eight published books. Every individual IΒve worked with has had some abandonment wound to heal, and most relationship problems stem from abandonment wounds.
This is a question that most people grapple with from time to time and it has largely been on my mind this past week.
